I have been spending a lot of time at home with my husband. One thing I have noticed is I’m spending a lot more time doing crafts and puzzles and also I am drinking a lot of wine. So I thought it would be fun to make a list of my favorite things for crafts and wine.
I am taking inspiration from Oprah. Every year she would have an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show that was devoted to her favorite things. It normally aired the week of Thanksgiving to give people some gift ideas. Now I know that I am not famous like Oprah, but I wanted to make my own list. This list is filled with my favorite products for crafting and also for drinking wine.
Cricut
So I am fairly new to the Cricut game, but I love my Cricut. I used it a lot when I was planning my wedding last year. I have made some really cute projects with it. Here are some of my favorite Cricut supplies.
Cricut Explore Air 2
I have a Cricut Explore Air 2. It is so easy to use and I have been able to cut a variety of different designs with it. You can create your designs in the Cricut Design Space and then cut your designs. The dial on the machine can be changed to match the material you are cutting. You can also select “Custom” on the dial. This will promote Design Space to ask you what you are cutting such as foil or glitter vinyl.
Cricut Easy Press 2
If you are going to do any kind of iron-on vinyl, I highly recommend getting the Cricut Easy Press. I have an Easy Press and it makes it very easy to make T-shirts, cloth bags, onesies, and baby bibs. I have also discovered Cricut Infusion Ink recently and made some awesome coasters using my Easy Press. You can adjust the time and temperature to match what you are using it for.
Easy Press Mat
If you buy the Easy Press, then you definitely need the Easy Press Mat. This mat will protect your craft table (or in my case, the dining room table) from the heat. It also comes in a variety of different sizes that can match your particular Easy Press size.
Cricut Basic Tool Set
One of the best purchases that I have made was a Cricut Basic Tool Set. The tools are very helpful when weeding and applying vinyl. The scrapper makes applying vinyl a breeze. The scrapper is so much easier and better to use than a credit card. I also like the little scissors because I like having scissors that have a specific purpose.
Crochet
So crocheting is my craft of choice. This is some of my favorite products!
Boye Crochet Hook Set
I love these crochet hooks. The ergonomic handles are so nice. I love the soft rubber handles. I also like the Boye crochet hooks because I feel that the yarn doesn’t get stuck under the hook.
Bernat Blanket Yarn
One of my favorite yarns is the Bernat Blanket yarn. I love this yarn because it is so soft. It is also a bulky yarn, so it works up very fast. There are so many bright colors to choose from. I have made blankets from this yarn and also pillows.
Caron Simply Soft Yarn
Caron Simply Soft yarn is my go-to yarn for most projects. It is very soft and comes in a variety of different colors. I have made multiple Pat Mahomes hats using this yarn in addition to several Hogwarts House scarves. This yarn is fairly inexpensive and is so versatile. I absolutely love this yarn!
The Happy Hooker
One of my favorite crochet pattern books is Stitch ‘N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker. It has several fun patterns that are more modern then the typical learn to crochet book where some of the patterns look like they haven’t been updated until the 70s. Each section has a sassy name which is kinda fun.
Red Heart Unforgettable Yarn
My favorite yarn to make stocking hats and scarves is the Red Heart Unforgettable Yarn. There are so many color combinations of this yarn. Some are brightly colored (like the color Red Sea) and others are more natural (like the color Bistro which contains different shades of grey). I also love the softness of the yarn. If you would like to learn more about my thoughts on this yarn, be sure to check out my blog post on this yarn.
Wine
Engraved Wine Glass
So I bought engraved wine glasses from GiftGivingCreation off Etsy last year for my bridesmaids. This seller was so easy to work with and the glasses were perfect. I personally love this glass because it combines wine with The Lion King.
Vertical Lever Wine Opener
I love my vertical lever wine opener. The corkscrew goes in the middle of the cork every time (if you can’t tell, this is a major struggle for me). It is also easier to get the cork out of the bottle with this opener. I don’t feel like I am going to accidentally throw the bottle across the kitchen when I use this opener to open a bottle of wine. This is my absolute favorite wine accessories.
Stainless Steel Wine Glass
One thing I like to do in the summer/fall is to drink wine outdoors. Whether it is by a fire or sitting on the front porch while reading there is something relaxing about enjoying a glass outside. I don’t like to take a glass wine glass outside because there are more opportunities for it to break, so I use my stainless steel wine glass for these types of occasions. An added bonus is the wine stays cold longer in these glasses too.
Just for Fun
National Park Puzzle
So I have been doing a lot of puzzles during the stay at home orders. Last night I put together puzzle number 8. It was this National Park Puzzle. I really like this puzzle. I love the images of the old park posters. Some of the reviews on Amazon talk about the pieces being really thin, but this was not my experience. The pieces, in my opinion, were slightly thinner than the last puzzle I did, but that puzzle had extremely thick pieces, in my opinion. My husband, who doesn’t help me with puzzles, even put in a few pieces. There are even puzzles that are for the Colorado National Park, parks in the Rocky Mountains, and even just the parks of California.
