So I have been a little slacking recently, but today I took a vacation day from my 9 to 5 job and decided that I would get caught up on some CraftEaze projects. This is the final post for the 50 state blanket. This blanket was really my most ambitious project ever. I had to develop patterns for all 50 states (really 49 patterns since Colorado and Wyoming are the same pattern). This post goes over the states of Virginia to Wyoming. In my opinion, this is one of the most unique shaped grouping of states in the entire blanket.
So remember if you are making the 50 states blanket, you will see an H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook and weight 4 yarn. I loved that I ate up some yarn in my yarn stash for this project. I used a lot of Caron Simply Soft yarn, Lion Brand Heartland yarn, and Red Heart yarn. If you are impatient and want all of the charts now, you can find the complete pattern in our Etsy shop (which is a pdf and can easily be printed) or in the CraftEaze – The American Experience in Throw Pillows book on Amazon.
Instructions for chart
Chain 41 loosely in the background color.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, 40 sc. You will begin at the arrow.
Rows 2-40: Following the chart (on the next page) work sc in each sc.
Fasten off.
Virginia
Washington
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming
Assembly of the Blanket
Attach the state blocks using the whip stitch seaming method. If you do 5 states by 10 states, the blanket will be about the size of a twin bed. You can also make a two-sided blanket with 25 states on each side. You can put the states in whatever order you would like. Be creative!
I hope you enjoyed making the 50 state blankets. I can’t wait to see everyone’s blanket!
