One of my favorite things to do is to wander around Michael’s and Joann Fabrics looking at all of the different craft supplies. I am particularly partial to looking at the different types of yarn since crocheting is my craft of choice. One yarn that has caught my eye recently is the Bernat Velvet yarn.
I bought this yarn in a variety of different colors and used it to make two different projects. The first project I used the yarn for was for a Christmas stocking from a pattern I created last year. The second project I used the yarn for scrunchies. Just in case you didn’t know scrunchies are back in fashion. This is great news because you can quickly make scrunchies for last-minute stocking stuffers!
This yarn is a bulky yarn which is nice because you can make large projects like blankets fairly quickly. It is also very soft. I love to work with soft yarns because sometimes the itchy yarns irritate my hands when I have dry skin. I love how shiny the finished product looks. This yarn can give the simplest projects a fancy appearance. I think the Christmas stockings will look awesome hanging on the mantel waiting for Santa to come.
One thing that bothered me about the yarn was that it sometimes would come apart on the ends. This left fuzz on me and the couch. But this was the only negative I found with the yarn. There are 19 colors to choose from, but they also make a baby velvet version that is not as bulky that comes in even more color options.
I can’t wait to make more projects with this yarn! Be sure to check out our other yarn review for the Big Twist Loopity Loops yarn.
I’ll have to thank you for the success today
